The rooms felt rundown and unsafe for families. While we were in the pool, I saw multiple drug deals, and kids were running and screaming in the parking lot at all hours. A roach crawled across the ceiling while we were in bed. If you’re booking because there’s a kitchen, bring your own pots, pans, and everything you need to eat. I’d requested two adjacent handicap-accessible rooms, but we got two rooms on the second floor. My mother-in-law uses a wheelchair, and when I told the front desk I couldn’t carry her upstairs, the woman acted like it was an inconvenience. Eventually they gave us one room on the first floor and one on the second. Our room looked very basic, and within 20 minutes my two-year-old’s feet were black. I asked if it had been cleaned and was told yes, but that clearly wasn’t true. The manager said both rooms would be cleaned while we were out the next day, but neither had been. When we asked for clean linens, they said housekeeping had run out and we’d have to wait until the next day. Ten out of ten, I recommend staying away. It’s not family friendly.

I stayed here for about four months. The bathroom was full of mold, and I even cleaned it myself. A picture fell off the wall and shattered because the neighbors upstairs were always jumping around, and the office never did anything about it. Elizabeth is very rude and shouldn’t be in her position. At checkout, she said the room was fine and released my security deposit. A couple days after I moved out, the deposit was gone, as if they had stopped payment and kept the money. They’re thieves. There are good workers, including maintenance and the women at the front desk. Whoever is in charge of Elizabeth is a great property manager too. I can’t remember her name, but she always took care of me.

The check-in woman was fabulous. Everything else was deplorable. The floors were filthy, the fridge smelled, and there were roaches in the room. We had booked Friday through Sunday but left Saturday. If the office hadn’t been closed when we went to the beach, I would have left as soon as morning came. The billing was confusing. I work in finance, and even I found the invoice hard to understand. I’d never rent here again or recommend it. While I was checking out, another guest complained that there was no shower curtain. The manager was combative and handed her the curtain to hang herself, saying she had inspected the room personally. The guest had video. The manager could at least have offered to install it. This felt like the kind of place people rent by the hour, if you know what I mean.

We first noticed a bug on our first night, but didn’t think much of it since it was midsummer and this is a motel. The bathroom and fridge weren’t very clean, but the sheets were, which mattered most after a long day of travel. We chose it because it cost less than the Wilmington hotel we usually book through our Choice Rewards Hotel card. By the second day, we were seeing more bugs and realized they were roaches. The front desk said nothing could be done because the motel was full, and asked why we hadn’t mentioned it sooner. We hadn’t realized there was an infestation until our first full day. When we checked more carefully, we found many dead roaches in the cabinets and fridge. I looked for bedbugs and instead found a disgusting mattress. The desk gave us the manager’s business card when we asked again if anything could be done. I’ll update this if they respond. Either way, there were live roaches on the second floor on July 19, 2025, so beware. Photos attached.

The location is convenient, the staff were friendly, and the beds were okay. There was a full-size fridge, stovetop, coffee pot, and toaster, but no room supplies like coffee or tea. The bathroom was spotless, though the floors were unbelievably filthy: white socks turned black. Some sheets were stained, but I saw no bedbugs. There were also people hanging around who seemed suspicious and were doing questionable things. At check-in, nobody mentioned the $50 deposit for our three-night stay. I went to the lobby to ask for a manager and was told staff would email and get back to us in the morning. The receptionist wouldn’t clean the room or send anyone to do it, just apologized and said it couldn’t be done. The pool was closed on our first day, but we were told it would reopen in the morning. We were also told leaving towels at the pool would mean we couldn’t use it for the rest of our stay. Zero tolerance. After managing a major-brand hotel myself, I was disgusted. For a budget, just-okay room, the value was alright. Aside from the cleanliness and questionable people staying there, it wasn’t completely awful, but I give it minus two stars.
