Holiday Inn Express & Suites Clear Spring by IHG

The breakfast room gets crowded, especially with families eating takeout there, even outside breakfast hours. Still, the hot options included sausage, bacon, and eggs. We stayed here for nearby skiing, and the kids loved relaxing in the hot tub afterward. The room seemed pretty new, and lots of families were staying here. I’d come back when traveling nearby.

The bed in room 226, near the elevators, was wet and smelled like pee. I checked after lying down and noticing the smell. Earlier, I’d taken a shower and there was no hot water. Staff moved us to another room, where I could shower with hot water, but I was still completely grossed out. The desk clerk said they couldn’t do anything because we booked through affirm. I emailed the property manager to ask if they’ll do anything before we escalate it further.

We reported bed bugs in our room, a serious health and safety concern. The front desk told us in person to contact Expedia for a refund, but later the hotel gave Expedia a different account and denied saying that. The staff seemed to be avoiding responsibility, and the contradictory, misleading behavior was unacceptable. Extremely disappointing and poorly managed. I wouldn’t trust or recommend this hotel.

The location east of Cumberland was good, and the beds were comfortable with fresh, huge pillows. The hotel is still being restored, though, and there were no towel racks or luggage rack. The TV is finally mounted a little higher. Breakfast was very good, even had kiwis in the fruit bowl, except for the hot water tap. Total cost was $138 on 4/21/25.
