We’ve been coming here since before it became Steamplant, and after staying at all the Davenport locations, this is still our favorite. The rooms feel classy but fun, and we love watching the trains from the location. At night they project movies onto the parking lot wall, which is SO COOL. Breakfast is free at a local diner down the street, and it’s a real treat compared with the usual continental spread. Shannon at the front desk was especially helpful the last time we stayed. This place deserves more than three stars.

The location made it easy to walk to everything I wanted to see downtown, and the price was a great value. The place is simple, but it did the job. Staff at the desk were really friendly, and my mattress was high quality and comfortable. I did bang my toe on the exposed bed frame a couple of times, though. Otherwise, I’d have given it top marks.

The room was okay, but it barely felt like a three-star hotel, and the property itself left me uneasy. There was a noticeable group of homeless people gathered under the bridge right beside the hotel when we arrived. Trains passed often, though fortunately they didn’t keep us awake. The daytime desk worker made a poor impression. She looked unkempt, had long dreads, and swore while speaking with us. We also saw her using a weed pen several times during our stay. The woman on the evening shift seemed more professional and put together, which made the daytime situation stand out even more. I came with my boyfriend, and we wouldn’t stay here again. I hope management addresses these issues for future guests.

Being so close to the tracks meant some noise, but we had a great stay overall. The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable, and downtown was nearby. There was also a wonderful breakfast spot at a cafe close by.

The front desk woman was nice, and the room was just adequate. I found a few stray hairs in the shower and didn’t find the bed very comfortable. Trains and homeless men yelling at 4 a.m. aren’t things I’d recommend, but the stay was fine overall.
