Courtyard by Marriott Clearwater Beach

Our youth hockey team stayed here while in Tampa for a tournament, and the staff made everyone feel welcome and looked after. The amenities, location, and value were fantastic. The pool, rooftop bar, lobby, gym, and Flipside Pizza were all awesome. Valet staff were outstanding, especially with so many families coming and going around game times.

The slow breakfast was the most frustrating part: it took more than 30 minutes to order two breakfast sandwiches, and both mornings were the slowest breakfast service I’ve experienced. Valet was also extremely expensive, and even on a regular day we waited over 10 minutes for the car. The hotel seemed possibly understaffed in the off-season, which affected service. Our spacious room needed maintenance: some lights, the iron, and bathtub faucet weren’t working properly. There was no full-length mirror or convenient place to hang bath towels either. With the high room rates, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are probably better choices in the same price range.

The chef made delicious breakfasts, and Betsy served them with an engaging smile. At the front desk, Karmalita and Seselli were friendly and very helpful from the start. I stopped by often for new keys and appreciated Niqua’s gentle, knowledgeable manner. The Courtyard is in a fabulous spot near Pier 60, with great restaurants along the strip an easy walk away. Looking forward to my next trip!

The pool was amazing, and I wish we’d had more time to enjoy it. This is a clean, very nice hotel within walking distance of the beach, Walgreens, and CVS. Breakfast was the confusing part: they use tokens instead of a per diem, so with two kids we couldn’t tell how much we could spend each day. We were charged at the restaurant for breakfast that we’d already paid for with the room reservation, and I’m hoping to get refunded. I’d avoid paying for breakfast when booking so you don’t pay twice.
