Edge Hotel Clearwater Beach

We couldn’t use the pool because of the weather, though there’s a pool bar too. The location was handy for restaurants, shopping, and the beach. We stayed at The Edge for four nights, and the room was clean and comfortable, with wonderful service from the staff. The complimentary continental breakfast had a wide selection. We also had a great time at the rooftop bar, with good food, drinks, and service. I’d highly recommend it.

The hotel felt outdated, and the rooms were below par. After leaving, I called about two brand-new dresses I’d left hanging in the closet. Housekeeping said they hadn’t found them, and nobody offered follow-up or took responsibility. I also got a bank alert that the pool bar had added a $72.50 tip to a $30.92 bill, making the total $103.42. I did not authorize a 234% gratuity, and the charge appeared to have been changed after payment. When I contacted the hotel, staff dismissed my concern and didn’t treat it seriously. A charge like that needs prompt investigation and correction. It’s also unacceptable for personal belongings to disappear without documentation, escalation, or an internal review. Between the missing dresses and the unauthorized tip, I felt basic guest protection, financial integrity, and customer service had fallen short. Anyone who stayed recently should check their final bill carefully.

The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the location was great. The rooftop bar had a beautiful view and good food. My biggest frustration was that ice wasn’t available on several floors, and the vending machines were either broken or missing. There was no snack shop or small store either. If they’re charging resort fees and trying to compete with luxury hotels, they should improve the quality and size of the bath towels, mats, and linens.

The complimentary breakfast left me underwhelmed. We also had to change rooms on our second day because quite a bit of mold was growing in the shower. It looks like they’ve tried to dress the place up, but the renovation effort still falls short. Not a great stay.
