Magnuson Clearwater Beach

The beach is beautiful and right across the street, and the pool area isn’t bad. But the place is dumpy, somewhat dirty, and smells. I’m not very picky, but I would NOT stay here again. A dirty mattress sat in the hallway all week. The room number had fallen off the door and stayed on the floor, and the garbage hadn’t been emptied before we checked in. The door handle came off every time we opened the door. I’d spend extra to stay somewhere nice. Look at my pictures.

We stayed just one night for a little beach getaway, and had a great rest. The beds were impeccable and the bathroom was very clean. It’s an old hotel, and you can tell they’re renovating, but it was clean and comfortable. It’s no Hyatt, but the staff were SUPER nice. They gave us a free parking pass, then extended it after checkout so we could walk to breakfast and get our car without paying for parking. You only have to cross the street to reach the beach, and Pier 60 is walking distance. We’ll definitely be back.

The hotel was clean and the pool is pretty nice. The extra charges are kind of outrageous, though: even when you book with them, it’s $15 a night for 2 people, or $25 a night with an extra person. That adds up, especially for a stay of 3 nights or more. Apart from that, I’d say it’s worth the price. Would book again.

The front desk man was very nice, and I feel bad that he works at such a dirt hole. The room was dirty, there were bugs in the light fixtures, and the TV was VERY SMALL. My door wouldn’t shut all the way, so wind howled through it and kept me from sleeping. Checkout is at 11am, but the front desk started ringing my room at 10. I have pictures I’ll post. It was prom, so they jacked the price up to 209. A night, then charged us 15.00 JUST TO PARK OUR CAR. Yuk. We paid 220. Down the road at dream view resort and it was clean and beautiful. I’ll never come back. I’m very displeased and unhappy, and they do not care.
