Sunrise Resort Motel South

Convenient location, but the stay was really disappointing. I know I wasn't paying $400 or more a night, but I still expected clean towels. We arrived Friday, and there were weeds and uncollected garbage around the pool and in the hallways by the rooms. No maid came all weekend, so I had to fetch towels and ask for garbage bags and toilet paper. That's not how I want to spend a vacation. There was no bathroom garbage can, and with no fan, you couldn't open a window. Part of the pool fence gate was lying on the ground. There were only four loungers around the pool and three plastic chairs outside all the rooms. Bring your own dish towels, dishcloths, and dish soap. There's no ice machine, and finding someone in the office was hit or miss.

I booked two nights and arrived to find a property that appeared shut down, with no staff or activity and no customers being taken. The listed phone number didn't work, and nobody answered the secondary number either. I asked around and luckily found the owner at the adjacent property. He acknowledged my calls but said nothing about why he hadn't returned them. He already had my printed reservation, so he seemed to be expecting a paying guest even though the hotel wasn't operating. He directed me to stay at the neighboring property, which I hadn't booked. Contractors were working there, and it was visibly under renovation. The so-called lobby looked closed, its POS system was disconnected, yet he suggested I pay $400 in cash for two nights. To me, this is outright fraud: taking reservations for a closed hotel and trying to send guests to an unfinished, unlivable place for cash. Even after renovations, I wouldn't trust it. Avoid this place.

A retro-style motel, very clean, with only a few amenities in the room. The pool was nice and clean too. It took 250 steps from the door to the beach, right by a crowded but nice public access.

We were only a two-minute walk from the beach, with Starbucks right next door, and even saw dolphins just outside the hotel. The staff made sure we had everything we needed, the rooms were clean and tidy, and the pool was amazing. You could swim at any time. My family spent the past four days here, and we all had an amazing time. The price felt perfect for what we got, and we couldn't be happier. I was nervous because Google only gave the hotel one star, but once we arrived, I was truly pleased. I'd gladly stay again!
