We’ve been coming to the traveler for 12 years, and it had been a bit neglected over the last few. The new owners and staff are kind and friendly, and they’re clearly fixing things up. We stayed in newly renovated room number #2 and were extremely happy with it. So far, about half the rooms seem to be remodeled, so be sure to ask for a new one. The location is excellent, and we’ll definitely be back soon.

The room itself was in awful shape. The sink was caving in, the carpet was disgusting even though they said it had been replaced last year, termites were a problem, and the toilet didn’t flush when we arrived. The front door was smashed, and I had to use a spoon and knife to keep the sliding window locked. They admitted there had been hoodlums in the room. We’d been there a month and had understood from last year that we’d get one of the better rooms, but instead got the same bad room as last year, only worse. I’ve stayed here for four years and never had the treatment I got this evening from the hired help. My other half asked the small cleaner for a working vacuum and sheets without what looked like blood stains. She said it was hair dye, but I disagree. She called my other half a “F****ing B***h” and other choice words, then got confrontational and highly offended. Good luck getting clean towels. You have to hand yours over for them to wash and return later or the next day, if you get any at all. I’m telling the truth about this place. Better find another budget stay. You can have my room now, because I’m leaving and never coming back. Reputation goes a long way in the hotel and motel business.

We stayed five nights and expected two double beds, but got one double bed and a sleeper sofa. The sofa had stains I should have photographed, and when I asked for a comforter for it, they gave us a throw blanket. We ended up borrowing a comforter from our daughter, who was staying somewhere else. The dishes and coffee maker were dirty. We won’t stay there again.

There was barely any customer service. Someone was in the office only from 4 to 5 each evening to check in new guests, so if you needed clean towels or anything else, you were told, “Didn’t y’all just get some yesterday?” or sent to find the cleaning lady, whom I never saw. We got two paper-thin towels and one washcloth to share, all disgusting, and were rationed one roll of toilet paper, with a second only for stays over five days. The room had stains all over the couch, no iron or ironing board, no hair dryer, and a brick-hard bed with two Walmart pillows and a thin, stained comforter. The shower pressure was poor, and if someone flushed in another unit while you were showering, the water turned ice cold. We booked The Traveler Motel after seeing the lovely online photos. Don’t trust what’s on the website: the pictures are old and most of the amenities don’t exist. I’ve had good stays in Clearwater before, but this place was disgusting. If the Travelers Inn is the only thing left for your Clearwater Beach trip, you’d have a better time vacationing in a third world country.

We had a blast, and the location is amazing. Our room was really nice, with a great little kitchen, and the staff were super friendly. The new owner has done a great job fixing the place up. It’s a little slice of paradise for an awesome price. Can’t wait to come back!
