Clearwater Luxury Rental

We canceled two nights 24 hours ahead because of a family situation, but the booking had already charged our credit card and they refused to refund any of it. We lost almost $600, which we can't afford on our fixed senior income. This was our first trip away in many years, and we'd never even been to the hotel. We feel they took advantage of us as senior citizens and treated us unfairly. Who can just lose $600? Don't book here, they will rip you off.

We got a full refund in the end, but I wouldn't consider staying here again. Before arriving, it took three calls, then waiting an hour and calling back, just to reach someone. At check-in, the man told me there'd be a $100 deposit and gave us a room number without clearly explaining where to find it, so we had to figure that out ourselves. There was no security in the building, and the hallway smelled like a dead animal. The door looked as if someone had tried to break in before. In the room, there was a large cockroach in the bathroom and two more on the other side. Once the lights were on, we saw a huge yellow stain on the sheets and went straight back to the desk. The man insisted we return to the room to show him. I was frustrated by then, and he rudely told me to calm down. My boyfriend and he pulled back the covers and found more stains. They need to improve customer service and take better care of the property.

The staff were really friendly and gave me a refund, which is why I gave it two stars. The whole building smelled, and walking into the room made me feel sick. The rooms were awful, the pool was tiny, more like a bathtub, and nothing like the pictures. This is a cheap place for someone down on their luck who just needs somewhere to stay. Don't bring your family or come expecting a budget vacation. Stay away.

The towels and bedding were clean, and the sink looked spotless, maybe even new. But the rest of the room hadn't been maintained well: there were splatters on the room and bathroom walls, the shower curtain was yellow at the bottom with black spots, and the bathroom fan didn't work and was coated in black dust. The mini fridge wasn't clean, and the floor didn't feel clean either. We couldn't use the pool because the water level was low. At the front desk, the first interaction was unpleasant: my husband called to reserve instead of booking online, and the man told him to call back because he was busy checking guests out. That was our only issue with the front desk staff. I knew the hotel was old and expected some wear, especially for the price. I thought it was supposed to be a 2-star place, on par with Sleep Inn or Holiday Inn, but the room's condition didn't match that expectation.
