Courtyard Marriott Clemson

We won't return to the Clemson Marriot. We booked a last-minute stay for two nights after the front desk quoted one total price, but the charge came to four times that amount. The rate given over the phone didn't match what we were charged, and communication between the front desk and manager during the reservation was unclear. We called right away to point out the mistake, but they insisted the charge was correct. I'm very disappointed in Marriot.

After years as loyal Marriott Bonvoy members, we're canceling our membership over this. The experience at this property felt dishonest and disrespectful, nothing like the standards we've expected from Marriott. I hope Marriott corporate reviews the hotel's practices and provides a refund for what happened. At 10 p.m. I called about last-minute cancellations. The hotel quoted $799 per night, which matched the website. I asked specifically whether they could honor two nights for $799 total, since I knew many places required a two-night minimum. The front desk agent checked with the manager, “Chad,” and confirmed that total. I booked based on that agreement. Less than an hour after checking in, I saw an $1,850 charge on my card. The desk called it a mistake and told me to speak with Chad in the morning. When I did, Chad said the rate was $799 per night, not for both nights as his staff had promised. If I'd known that, I wouldn't have stayed. I declined the second night once I learned the truth, but Chad wouldn't adjust or discount the first night, despite the miscommunication coming from his own staff and his approval.

This is my usual spot in town. The hotel is well kept, and the rooms are clean.

The staff are friendly, and you're close to Clemson campus. The property is maintained well, though it feels dark and somewhat tired next to newer hotels. During peak dates, you can pay less by staying in Anderson at the Fairfield or residence. It's about a 15-minute drive to campus.
