Holiday Inn Express Clermont by IHG

The room was very clean, and the rest of the hotel staff were great. The pool, though, was really dirty and had an umbrella in it. I’m only rating service a 2 because of maintenance. We stayed Wednesday to Sunday and asked Thursday morning for someone to fix the lighted mirror. Since it was Thanksgiving, we were told Friday. Nothing happened, so I checked again and was told no request had been logged. The front desk put it in; the maintenance person came up and said the mirror couldn’t be tapped to brighten, then said he’d return with an overhead bathroom light. He never did. The bathroom stayed so dark that we had to get ready by flashlight every day, even though the downstairs bathroom mirror was very bright. It feels like they don’t care enough to fix things. Room 2411.

Housekeeping was great, and the outdoor pool was nice. There are lots of restaurants nearby too. The hotel sits in a hilly part of Florida, which surprised me. It was one of the cleanest and quietest places I’ve stayed, and I’ve seen both the best and worst. You can’t go wrong here.

I canceled well before the deadline and was still charged. Getting my money back has taken several calls, and management has been rude and unprofessional throughout. They never apologized for the mistake, spoke to me with a terrible attitude, and hung up on me more than once. They’re treating me as if I caused the problem when they failed to process my cancellation properly. It’s been a nightmare. Save yourself the stress and avoid this place.

There were little black bugs on the dressers and along the window edges, the water barely got hot, and the room wasn’t very clean. The bigger concern was the door. When we came back from the theme parks, it was cracked open. The AC was set all the way down to 62, which we’d never do because we hate the cold, and there were fresh towels in the bathroom, so we believe housekeeping left it that way. We had work-from-home equipment and other important things inside. We reported it, but management never called back despite promising to. We called several times and emailed, and almost three weeks later we were still trying to get this resolved. Update: They still haven’t returned calls or emails. The response under this review was a joke. I wouldn’t trust this hotel with security. They’ll leave your door open and not care.
