Applegate Inn

The front desk staff were rude, and the room was disgusting, clearly not vacuumed and poorly kept. They called it non-smoking, but it reeked of smoke so badly it gave us headaches. We checked out without staying and went just eight minutes down the road. Our clothes and hair still smelled like smoke. I'd give this place negative stars if I could.

I paid for the room but left without staying after going to look at it. It was filthy, like something out of a horror movie: food was mashed into the carpet, there were huge black sticky stains, holes in the walls, and a terrible smell. The air conditioner didn't work. I was afraid to put anything down in case of bed bugs, and I didn't feel safe. I went straight back to the office, got my money back, and left. One star would be 1000% more than this "Inn" deserved.

The one good thing I can say is that it's next to a gas station. The Wi-Fi worked really well, and the maintenance man was reasonable, but the owner had a terrible attitude. We had a game nearby the next day, and I needed somewhere to stay with my son for the night. The tub was dirty, the handle bar was broken, and the water was cold. Since nobody else was complaining, the owner didn't think he needed to do anything. I recorded his selfish behavior because we're good people and expected better. The room was hot and the air wasn't working properly. There were also creepy homeless people in the back. If you've got a nearby game and need a place for the night, I definitely don't recommend this motel. This was one of the worst experiences I've had trying to find somewhere to stay.

I could've put up with an old, worn room if it had been clean. There were dirt tracks across the carpet, stains or cigarette burns on most of the linens and on the walls. What did it for me was the black strings at the base of the shower and a used Band-Aid stuck to the wall.
