Comfort Inn Cleveland Downtown

The location was the only thing I liked. The lot was covered in ice, and check-in was done on paper. The rooms looked like they hadn’t been updated since the 60s, and the bathroom was smaller than a closet. Not what I expected at all.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, since problems weren’t handled properly. During my three-day stay, loud music from a nearby bar played from 11p-1a, keeping me awake. The shower pressure was low and there was no hot water. My heater rattled and barely worked, so I had to turn it off and spent my first night without heat. They moved me the next day to a room that hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest. Used towels, soap, and bed linens were still there. I had an engagement to get to, so I had to leave my things in the room. Housekeeping had been in by the time I returned, but the TV remote was sticky, and I cleaned the room myself. The following night brought more problems. The front desk said no manager was on duty and they couldn’t do anything. I emailed the manager on checkout day and was offered a total $50 adjustment. When I said that wasn’t enough, she stopped replying. Corporate told me they couldn’t help because each hotel is privately owned.

The Comfort Inn is clean and comfortable, and its location is great for seeing the nearby theaters. The staff left me alone, which I appreciated. I’d recommend it, but if you don’t have much transportation, be ready for limited shopping options within walking distance.

The two women working breakfast on Oct. 5th were terrific. The food was good, especially the real eggs, but their service stood out even more. When an elderly gentleman arrived, one of them found him a seat, made him coffee, and fixed a plate of eggs and sausage. Both women kept the area spotless and the food fresh. I’ll be back.
