You get about what you pay for. The gym was really nice, though. I drink tea, so it was a hassle having to heat water myself because the hot water dispenser was always cold. They never seemed to replace or heat the water.

We’ve now had two awful hotel stays in this town. This place smelled bad, the pool was dark green, and the outside was filthy. It shares an address with the even more run-down motel next door, and people from that motel kept coming over to do laundry here. Someone also stole our food delivery. We didn’t feel safe, including about our vehicle, and the place looked like it hadn’t been remodeled in 15 years. If we need to stay nearby again, we’ll drive another 20 minutes toward Houston for a cleaner, safer option.

We booked the one bedroom suite with my Choice Hotel Elite Gold Member points for our last visit to my husband’s hometown, Cleveland. The room seemed clean at first, but when I went to shower I spotted two roaches in the bathroom. With the lights on, more kept appearing on the walls and ceiling. They were everywhere. Neither TV worked, and after several unanswered calls, my husband went to the front desk for help. I told him we were leaving, packed up, and we left. The hotel wouldn’t return the 15,000 points, and they wouldn’t let him give the room to an associate he saw trying to check in. We ended up driving 24 minutes down the highway to Hawthorne Suites in Kingwood for a decent hotel. I have pictures, though Google wouldn’t let me add them to this review. Most of the hotel’s photos looked like professional images from the company website, and I wonder if guest pictures aren’t allowed because they’d show the infestation and room conditions. The old owners used to be kind and take pride in upkeep. After new management came in and changed the name, I noticed a gradual decline. Our final stay was October 18th, 2025. I’ll never come back. The place has gone downhill terribly, and I wish I could give it no stars.

The front desk staff were nice and moved us to rooms on another floor after we complained about the strong musty, moldy smell in both rooms we got at check-in. The replacements still smelled that way, just less strongly. We had three nights there, and the rooms were infested with cockroaches and what looked like carpenter ants. Roaches crawled over the ceiling, walls, floor, and furniture. We squashed at least a dozen, while others got away. It was gross, and we were glad to leave.
