Crowne Plaza Cleveland at Playhouse Square by IHG

The hotel doors locked at night, and you needed a room key to get in, which I loved. It felt clean and safe, and nearly everything we wanted to visit was within walking distance. Mr. Alex at the front desk was so friendly, carried all our things up, and had plenty of recommendations. The service was incredible. We'll definitely come back!

The room was clean, but a lot of things made this stay frustrating. It stayed cold most of the time, then got too warm while we were sleeping, and I couldn't adjust it. The TV had a blue tint I couldn't fix. There was no microwave, so the food we kept in the working refrigerator had to be eaten cold. Room service breakfast arrived cold too, without utensils, napkins, or sweeteners. They said they were short staffed, but guests shouldn't get subpar service for that reason. The parking prices were ridiculous, so we used the garage, though walking back to the hotel in the cold wasn't appealing. The front desk service at check-in was wonderful and professional. There were children in the next room running and making noise in the halls all night and early morning, plus loud construction in the hotel. The handicap setup was poor too: the toilet was far too low and the tub too high to step into. The hotel looks nice, but the service didn't match the price. We considered booking again, then decided never to stay here again because of the noise and food. At least we enjoyed each other's company.

We stayed in the chandelier suite, at the rounded end of the building, with a great view of the chandelier over the street. It's also an easy walk to the Playhouse Square theaters. Alex from concierge services went above and beyond, and the front desk was consistently great. Follow the valet check-in and checkout directions and you can wait comfortably in your room until Alex comes for your bags, without waiting in the lobby for your car. Our one small issue was that the shower water wasn't very warm. They sorted it out and gave us drink and snack vouchers. The restaurant staff and food were great too. We'd definitely return.

We could walk to Browns Stadium and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the hotel is right in the Playhouse Theater district. There was nearby alternative parking, so we avoided the valet cost. We also tried Yours Truly twice, with plenty of other food options around. Our room was a little unusual, with the queen or king bed set at an angle, but otherwise it was nice.
