Hilton Garden Inn Dulles North

For a quick overnight before an early flight from Dulles, the hotel was pretty okay. But the heater was so noisy I couldn't sleep properly, and on a very cold night I eventually had to switch it off just to get a few winks. Healthy breakfast options were extremely limited, so I walked across the street to a convenience store to get cereal bars.

The welcome desk staff were nice, which is the only reason I'm giving this two stars instead of one. I stayed 11 days, and the WiFi kept failing every two days. To get back online, I had to forget the network and sign in again on all my devices. I also didn't feel I had privacy. Housekeeping would knock and barge in without waiting a minute for me to answer or open the door, and they did this three times while I was in the room. After cleaning, they'd sometimes leave out the towels, so I had to ask for them each time. The bathroom supplies weren't checked either. The Conditioner bottle was empty from check-in and was never refilled during the full 11 days; the shampoo ran out too and was left that way. I don't think I'll stay here again until these issues are addressed.

The restaurant food, drinks, and service were great, but a number of fixable room issues made the hotel a 2/5 for me. The toilet barely flushed unless I held it down for 10 seconds or more, and the pillows were so thin I had to stack two. It was so cold by the diner's outside door that it felt like sitting outdoors. The room heat worked somewhat, but not well, and I had to pay for the Breakfast Buffet.

Erica made my time at HGI really enjoyable. She was attentive and available whenever I or my group needed something, whether for breakfast or bar service. She knew the grounds and surrounding area well. HGI Ashburn has a real gem of an employee.
