Grand Cloudcroft Hotel

We enjoyed our few nights here over winter break. The hotel and town are super cute and have a nice vibe, and it was easy to take a day trip to White Sands. We didn't have snow, though I imagine the drive could feel a little scary if there were snow. It was very kid friendly, and the breakfast was good. We were near the lobby and breakfast area, but it was quiet at night, so the noise other people mention wasn't an issue for us. The charges are why I'm taking off a star. We were billed $20 for arriving at 3 pm when check-in was at 4 pm. When my husband went out for pizza and came back, there was no parking. They wanted to charge him $10 to park in the garage, and at first they wouldn't agree to waive it, though he talked them out of it. It felt like we were being nickel-and-dimed over silly things. Still, we'd stay again. The hotel is very cute and the staff are friendly.

Even with the hotel completely booked and lots of families there, our room was quiet, cozy, and clean. It’s a beautiful hotel, with a nice breakfast and really awesome VIP parking. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend it if you’re staying in Cloudcroft!

The rooms have no soundproofing. We could hear everything happening in the rooms above and beside us, even though those people were talking at a normal indoor volume. Every step and movement came through. We even heard their recreational activities, and I’m sure they were trying hard to keep quiet. For what this place costs, you’d think they would have soundproofed it.

The hotel is fairly new and clean, but it isn't really close to anything. We got there at 3:20 pm local time, and the place was completely empty. The clerk said check-in wasn't until 4:00 unless I wanted to pay a $20 early check-in fee. It was like that VRBO commercial with Nick Saban. We could wait in the “lounge” instead. If this is your only option, go ahead and book, just don't show up before 3:59.
