White House Hotel

This place is a pig with lipstick. I paid 177 for a superior room with a view, but there was barely a sink, and the mattress sagged into a deep hole in the middle. The lights blinked, and the door had been painted over. No mini refrigerator, either. The restaurant was closed, so there was no breakfast, though you could pay to have food delivered to the room. The luxury hotel concept is badly executed. There are three different light colors around the hotel: the corridors have yellow lights that aren't warm, just yellow, while outside there's a mix of very nice warm lights and bluish white ones. The main entrance is by the restaurant and has stairs. There's no covered entrance or anyone there to help.

The location is good, close to the beach, Elk Lodge if that's your thing, and right by the strip. I just wish the stay had been better. We won't come back. Even at $300 a night, several casinos nearby would be a better choice, or even a run-down hotel. The king bed sloped so badly my wife rolled downhill onto me. The four pillows were tiny, about 6x6 inches. There was no fridge or microwave, the closets were small, and the room had a musty smell I couldn't place. Lighting was lousy, with no ceiling lights and too little light for makeup, just bedside lamps and a floor lamp. There were no trash bags. The key wouldn't open the bathrooms in the main hall, and the building door, which is supposed to need a key for secure access, usually opened easily. It seemed to work only some of the time. The air conditioner in our room was loud, and we could hear several noisy units in other rooms. Mold on the walls had been painted over and was bleeding through, as shown in the photos. Patty, keep your reply to yourself. Staff, owner, or whoever you are answering these recurring complaints, I've read the other reviews and they describe much the same problems. You're not fixing anything, just apologizing. Keep the apologies and the 'We appreciate your comments, hate it was a bad experience for you' response, and actually fix things.

Most employees were friendly and helpful, but the bartender's negativity about Biloxi and nearby Mobile pushed us to cancel our last night and book a lovely place in Mobile instead. When we asked what there was to do in Biloxi, she said basically nothing, and called Mobile even worse when we asked about it. We found our own fun in both places. Please build a walking bridge so guests can get to the beach safely. The old hotel is beautiful and looks elegant, but it didn't feel that way in practice. With very few guests, we were put on the third floor facing the parking lot. The room smelled musty, and the air conditioner blew right at our faces in bed. I called twice for pool towels, then after 30 to 40 minutes took some from a cleaner's cart. Amenities were sparse beyond basic cheap room coffee, and the bar and restaurant had limited hours. And save the AI-generated reply. It's too long, inauthentic, and not helpful when reading reviews.

The bar is a big reason I keep coming back to White House Hotel. Alaina, one of the managers, I believe, is attentive, friendly, helpful, and has good judgment. Her drinks are consistent and tasty, and your glass never stays empty for long. Try her old fashion. The restaurant has some of the best food I've had. I've tried a lot of the menu, enjoyed it, and come back for more. It's also a high-class, historic, comfortable hotel. No two rooms are alike, and each has its own story, with comfortable accommodations. Whether you're there for business, a wedding, a stop on the way home, or just a visit, it's worth a stop.
