Holiday Inn Express Cloverdale - (Greencastle) by IHG

The staff were pleasant and helpful, and I have no complaints about them. The biggest issue was construction starting at 8 a.m., which wasn't mentioned when we booked or checked in. Breakfast is usually at 6, but was delayed until 7. I had a family event at 6 while my husband tried to sleep in, but couldn't. For $157 plus tax with the military discount, our room had several problems. There was mold in the shower and peeling wallpaper. The outside exit door nearest the main entrance wouldn't close at all, so anyone could get around the front desk despite the cameras. Moving blankets were taped to the elevator walls with clothes hangers, which looked very cheap. A dresser corner had a piece of wood on it that looked tacky. The bed was stiff and uncomfortable, and the lamp on the nightstand had built-in outlets that wouldn't charge my phone.

They're remodeling as of March 2026, so that's worth bearing in mind. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the lobby and breakfast area were neat and welcoming. The location just off 231 and 70 worked well, and there's an awesome Mexican restaurant across the parking lot that you can walk to.

We had a booking mix-up and weren't sure about coming back, but I'm glad my partner and I gave the hotel another try. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfast was fresh and very good, and we felt our money was well spent. We'll be back!

As an IHG member, this was one of the dirtiest hotels I've stayed in. The rooms smelled like wet dogs, there were black footprints on the shower floor and clumps of long hair on the shower walls. The carpets were old and the smell was awful. I'd avoid this hotel.
