Hilton Garden Inn Clovis

Hernan Angeles was the highlight of our stay. He was our bartender after the Fresno State Rodeo Team banquet, and was a very kind, respectful young man. We enjoyed a couple of drinks with our friends and tasty bar food. My husband and I will stay here again on our next trip to Clovis, especially to see Hernan. Check-in was easy, though Brandon could have been friendlier, or maybe that's just his personality. We brought our medium sized dog and appreciated the free treats and water bowls. The location was under construction, but it didn't bother us. Our room was clean, had fresh linens, and smelled nice.

I've stayed here whenever I'm in Clovis for about 10 years because it's central to everything I need. Finding out that room service only happens every other day has changed that. There was no notice that housekeeping wouldn't come in to make the bed or leave fresh towels. I make my bed at home, but on vacation I expect more from a Hilton. If you're here for an extended stay, ask someone about room service before heading out for the day. I'll look for another place nearby.

We won't return or recommend this hotel. On a weekday morning, nobody greeted us at breakfast. Employees were walking around and chatting by the front desk without acknowledging us, and we waited so long that we left to eat elsewhere. The lobby was unpleasantly noisy, with a police meeting and people working near the front of the hotel. Our room was decent, though the furniture was old. Water was marked as free, but the bottles had $3.00 tags. The experience and professionalism were much worse than on our last visit, and another hotel treated us better.

The room had a great TV and remote, a comfortable bed, and the new keyless check-in and check-out system was convenient. Still, at $360 a nite with no complimentary breakfast, the place felt like 11/2 stars at three-star prices, and below Hilton standards. Renovations meant we were in a room that hadn't been updated. Hot water took at least 15 minutes to reach the bathroom, towels were limited, the bottled water cost $3, and the Keurig barely got hot. The pillows were yellow tinted, there was a blue cleaning glove behind the nightstand, and the counters looked only partly wiped. The bathroom door wouldn't stay open, and the shower head was poor. The hallway was loud, and even though we picked a room facing the alley for quiet, people talked and played music there late into the night. Renovations also left an inconvenient solution to the out-of-order ice machine. We know how Hilton usually operates as Honors members, and this stay didn't meet that standard. The night before, bottled water was complimentary at the Hampton Hilton location.
