Victorian Inn

Getting my deposit back was the most frustrating part. It took almost two and a half weeks of repeated follow-ups and pressure, and the manager's replies were often snarky and unhelpful. My three weeks at Victoria Inn, where I stayed for a Brooklyn medical student rotation, ended up being the worst part of my time in Brooklyn. I found the place through Rotating Rooms mainly because it was affordable, and regretted choosing it. The basement room looked like the photos, but it was bleak, shabby, and had no ventilation. I saw several cockroaches. The common area was always dark, with no natural light, and the hall often smelled of marijuana. Kitchen appliances were there, but stickers all over the place saying what you could and couldn't touch made it feel almost like a prison. Victoria Inn says it has three bathrooms, but their condition varied a lot. One was so cramped it was hard to maneuver around the shower, and its lock didn't work during my stay. The basement bathroom was filthy and poorly maintained, more like a neglected utility closet than a proper restroom. If you're a medical student looking for a place during a Brooklyn rotation, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
