Cocoa Beach Suites

I woke up to the ocean and a beautiful sunrise from the bed. My room was big, clean, had no smell, and the beds were comfortable and new. The shower was clean too, and we checked for bugs and didn’t find any. The hotel is right on the beach, so I thought it was great value for the price. The rooms could use an update, but that didn’t matter much to me when I was there to enjoy the beach. I travel often, and this is one of the best budget friendly hotels I’ve stayed in. We had zero issues, and the staff were great. The area had some shady people around, so I’m giving the location only three stars. Motel 6 is next door, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. Nobody bothered me or my kids while I was traveling alone as a single mom. The employees were super nice and accommodating. You can walk to the beach, and I’d ask for an ocean view room. There’s access through the Westgate resort property next door, just a few minutes away. We’re localish, from Orlando, and I promise we’ll be back. This will be my go-to Cocoa Beach hotel, and I’d recommend it to cruise goers too. They offer transportation to the cruise port for a small fee. Waffle House, Taco Bell, DQ, and Subway are all within a five minute walk, and 7-11 is about fifteen minutes away.

The room we were finally moved to had just been cleaned, but it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke even though we had booked a non-smoking room. That made me question how well the policy is enforced and how thorough the cleaning is. On checkout, no one was at the front desk, so we couldn’t return our key card, speak with anyone, or get the manager’s email to report what had happened. We arrived at 5:30 p.m., an hour and a half after the website’s stated 4:00 check-in time, but our room still wasn’t ready. The front desk said it would take 30 minutes. We came back at 6:05, and it still wasn’t ready, more than two hours after check-in should have begun. We’d been traveling for over 12 hours and just wanted to rest and shower. Staff said there had been many guests the night before and housekeeping couldn’t keep up. That’s an internal staffing issue, and guests shouldn’t have to bear the consequences when the hotel expects full occupancy. As a temporary fix, they offered us a provisional room and warned us the AC didn’t work properly and was very noisy, and that the room was only suitable for a quick shower. The shower also took about 10 minutes to warm up. This stay showed a clear lack of organization, accountability, and care for guests. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The woman who checked us in was amazing, really helpful, upbeat, and super nice. Everything else was good too, except the bed. I stayed in room 504 and got three huge bites on the back of my leg that appeared a few days later. I’m allergic to bed bugs and know what their bites look like, so I believe that’s what happened.

We booked one night before our cruise. The woman at the desk was nice enough, got us checked in a little early, and helped arrange a shuttle for the next day. The photos on the website don’t show the hotel’s condition. The place is in rough shape. We could smell smoke on the floor, though not necessarily in our room. The carpet was dirty and worn, the mattresses were clearly old, and while the bathroom was fairly clean, the paint was chipping and the shower handle was nearly falling off. A comforter we pulled from the drawer clearly hadn’t been washed. The beds themselves seemed clean. You get what you pay for, but I don’t recommend staying here.
