Rodeway Inn Downtown Near Lake Coeur D'Alene

At $100 a night for six days, we were really upset. We picked this place for our anniversary because the online photos showed a loveseat and coffee table, where we wanted to sit together and watch TV. There wasn't any loveseat. The room was rough: an awful popcorn ceiling from the 1960s, orange-ish curtains, a red bedspread with two tears, almost all blank walls, and old, stained blue-ish carpet. Bathroom wallpaper was peeling. The friendly staff did clean the room, but lint was still all over the floor, and during our six-day stay nobody cleaned the windowsill with dead bugs on it. We liked the fridge, microwave, and comfortable bed and pillows, but there was no decor, the colors didn't match, and everything looked old and worn. Not having the loveseat was especially awful, and we'll never stay again. The price was terrible for what you get and have to look at. The staff and cleaning people were very friendly, though. Other reviews are right that staff or owners sit around in the eating area or mess with the computer by the hallway entrance. The computer faces the front doors across from the front desk, so people walking past can see your email and whatever else is on screen. I wouldn't check email or enter a password there. There's no PC privacy, something I'd never seen in a hotel before. The only entrance is a little back alley behind a restaurant, and the sign is so small you'll likely pass it and wonder where the hotel is since you can't see it from the street. For $100 a night, the complimentary breakfast needed a lot more variety, though it was just okay. The pool is small, has no tables or seating around it, and didn't look inviting.

The staff were friendly, but my room's chair had a broken leg and the towels were very worn. I woke up to a huge spider crawling on the wall, and the place needs a lot of updating. The pool and hut tub were cold and very dirty, and there was hair in the eggs and sausage patty.

The room was clean and the hotel was quiet. The beds were comfortable, with lots of pillows, and breakfast was good. The staff were friendly, and the pool and Jacuzzi were perfect. Nothing I didn't like.

For $59, I expected more. This place isn't close to downtown, and the lobby felt pretty creepy. Even with the freeway right beside it, there aren't many good places to walk to. I feel like I could've found something better for the price.
