The backyard is lovely, the front porch is comfortable, and there’s plenty of room inside. Bathrooms were clean, too. Nancy is a great cook, and there were sanitizing stations around the Inn. We also appreciated the included wine, treats, bottled water, and other extras. The bikes made it easy to get to the lake and downtown. The rooms were clean and the Inn is spacious. Great experience, I’d recommend checking out the McFarland Bed and Breakfast Inn. You can’t go wrong!

The beds, linens, food, and amenities were all wonderful. Nancy’s historic home is lovely, and she’s a thoughtful host who keeps to herself while still being ready with suggestions for places to eat or hike. She even has references available for guests. We had a great stay in beautiful Coeur d'Alene. Trust the good reviews, and don’t let the cranky ones put you off. It’s hard to imagine doing better.

Nancy made us feel welcome from the start. She showed us a city map and pointed out attractions and bike routes based on what we wanted to do. She also let us keep our bikes in her garage. The house is on a quiet, tree-lined street, yet downtown shops, restaurants, the boardwalk, and city park are only about three blocks away. It’s an old home with lots of charm, nicely renovated, and the rooms are beautiful, each with a TV and DVD player. Nancy got up early to make a terrific breakfast, much better than what you’d get at a hotel. We ate in the sun room overlooking her backyard and flowers. There’s also a bench swing on the porch. We’ll definitely come back. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. It’s pretty great!

Breakfast was the big treat for us. We came down at 9 after sleeping in a bit, and the bright sun porch already had martini glasses filled with sweet fresh berries and lemon zest. Nancy brought croissants and fresh juice, then served a caramelized onion and bacon crustless quiche with extra bacon and potatoes. It was delicious, and the portions were so generous we could only manage about half. Coffee is ready at 6 for early risers, and, if I remember right, breakfast runs from 8 to 9:30. Our first-floor coeurdelane room was quiet even though it was beside the shared area. As the only bedroom on that floor, it gave us the feeling of having nearly the whole house to ourselves. The room was cute, the bed was comfy, and we liked having a fan for air circulation, even in winter. The bathroom has original built-in cabinetry around the bath and shower, plus an antique radiator that kept it toasty. We left the door closed since the room was already warm enough. The shared fridge and snack area was stocked with complimentary bottled water, soda, beer, and wine, and we could store our own drinks or leftovers there. At check-in, we got street parking right out front and a tour of the house and its big communal spaces. The location was great too, on a quiet street about a seven-minute walk from Sherman Ave, with its restaurants, bars, and shops. Nancy was so nice, and we’d love to come back :)

Nancy made the stay feel personal, asking what we needed and somehow having the right things appear. We wanted to be close to downtown, and the home is conveniently near shops, places to eat, and the lake. It’s well maintained and full of history. We’re here after getting married in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, and the claw foot tub in the huckleberry room was exactly what my bride had hoped for. We’re already looking forward to coming back and seeing the place in another season. Thank you!
