Motel 6 Colby, KS

The room was basic, and when I reported that the TV didn't work, the clerk told me to jiggle the HDMI cable until it did. For $82 x2, that was a crappy room and a ridiculous fix. There are better options around here. I had already paid through booking.com before arriving, but the clerk insisted I swipe my card again and said I wouldn't be charged twice. I got an alert for another charge anyway. When I pointed it out, he brushed me off and said it would disappear the next day. It didn't, and he then told me to contact booking.com for a refund. I was furious, since getting help from them is next to impossible. I guess I'll have to dispute it with my credit card company.

After a 10-hour trip with my two babies, this was the only place with rooms available. I got there at midnight and asked about an early check-in for Wednesday, leaving Thursday, and the woman said that was fine. The TV didn't work, and there was a nasty, moldy, smelly trash can in the room. At 11 am Wednesday, a man came in and said they'd charge my card for another night if I didn't leave. He hadn't been around when we checked in, so he didn't know what his employee had told us. I asked him to check the footage, but he told me to leave or he'd call the cops while my children were being washed in the shower. They said I should have reported the moldy trash and TV at the front desk. I called over six times from the room phone, which didn't get me anywhere, and I couldn't leave my kids alone or make them walk to the desk. A room I'd paid for should at least have been clean. I highly recommend DO NOT COME HERE!

We'd been driving for 12 hours and were facing a 16-hour trip, so I was exhausted and needed sleep with my son and dog. The I-70 motel reviews I'd read were pretty disappointing, and hotels with good reviews were quoting over $280 for eight hours. This place looked promising, and the whole stay was a surprising relief. Terry was so kind, even while I was babbling incoherently. We checked in for under $100. It's a very basic room, but it was clean and easy to get to. The bed was comfortable, the pillows soft, and the linens clean and cared for. There was some limescale on the bathroom fixtures, but I don't understand people calling them filthy. The AC smelled a little musty at first, but that went away right after I turned off economy mode. I left my key in the room when I went to the car, and terry made me another one right away without making me feel silly. We'll plan to stop here between drives from now on. It's a budget motel with clean rooms and phenomenal service.

The noise was ridiculous all morning, and I didn't feel safe here. The bathroom and bedroom walls had marks that looked like bowel movements. This place is horrible. If you see this motel 6 in Colby KS, run! I slept on top of the sheets with my coat as a blanket, and I'm heading to a rest stop to shower so I don't get MRSA.
