Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Airport/Millenium Center

The restaurant and bar looked like a sixth-grade class had set them up, and we had to walk in and work out what was going on. The front desk wasn’t much better. They were remodeling while I was there and didn’t seem to try to make the areas outside the room comfortable. Maybe it’ll improve after the work is finished, but it was a disappointing last night in Georgia. It’s okay if you just need somewhere near the airport.

Getting to the airport was a mess. I waited for the shuttle from 3:25 to 4:00 am, and the 3:30 one never came. When the driver finally arrived, he had a friend riding with him. Leaving felt much like arriving, and the service overall was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend it. The food was either microwaved or deep-fried, served on paper plates with plastic utensils, but priced like a sit-down restaurant. The carrot cake was good, at least. The hotel was in the middle of major renovations, with the pool, restaurant, and lobby all closed. The website only mentioned that “some public areas” were closed. The gym equipment needs replacing, too. We spent three nights there. We got in around 10:30 pm, and the first keys didn’t work. Neither did the next set. Then we learned someone else was already in our room. The front desk guy seemed completely indifferent. We didn’t get into a room until almost midnight, and he had to escort us because he couldn’t make any more keys. The rooms were dated and, like the rest of the hotel, needed repairs. Wallpaper was peeling, the tub spout leaked, handles were loose, and paint was chipping.

Ms Bridgette was at the desk when I checked out, and we hit it off right away talking about how good God is. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return. There had been a booking mix-up before I arrived, so I asked for a room for two nights. The room and lobby were very clean, and the room smelled nice. But the receptionist had only booked one night. When I came back, my key wouldn’t open the door, and I found out I was supposed to have checked out. Another staff member was kind, checked that my things were still there, and booked me for another night with a good discount to make up for the misunderstanding.

The staff were easily the best part. Everyone I met was very friendly. The airport was close by, which was convenient, but my room’s coffee maker was broken, so the morning got off to a rough start. The carpets were old and stained, too. As a Hilton Honors member, I usually get two bottles of water, but here I was told they’d cost $3 each. I used one. And please stop charging for parking. To me, that’s hotels taking advantage of their customers.
