I travel to Albany for work regularly and switched here after being unhappy with my previous hotel. I’ll definitely come back to the Holiday Inn Express. The room was clean, parking was plentiful, and Instacart could deliver right to the door. There are lots of shops and places to eat nearby. The walls are thin, so you can tell when a neighbor has the TV on, though you can’t make out the dialogue. During the hockey playoffs, the guy next door got upset with his team. Part of me wanted to yell along because it felt like I was in the room with him. I didn’t complain since I yell at my team and the refs too. I asked the staff for an extra blanket but never heard back. I bought a blanket and pillow, and they stopped making my bed until I took my things away. I was surprised, but I understand they likely have strict rules about staff touching guests’ belongings. Honestly, it’s reassuring they followed that rule. My only real complaint was that the sheets and pillowcases felt like sandpaper against my skin. That may just be me, since I have tactile sensory issues and often struggle with sheets, even high-thread-count cotton. I managed with the sheets, but needed a pillow I could put my face on. Buying a pillowcase for the hotel pillows felt weird, so I bought my own pillow and a soft pillowcase.

When car trouble left my 17-year-old and her 21-year-old friend in Albany for a concert, I needed to find them a room. Another hotel wouldn’t let me book because of their age, even though I know her friend is 21 and that’s old enough elsewhere. I called here and was able to get them a very nice room. They enjoyed the pool and breakfast, slept well, and felt safe walking from the parking lot into the hotel. I’m grateful this place helped us out and kept the two young ones safe for the night.

The room was comfortable and quite nice, and check-in was simple. Everyone on staff was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast had a good range of choices, though a few items looked as if they’d been sitting out for a while. I had a good stay and would return if I needed to.

I liked the location for my meeting, and the staff were really friendly. The breakfast was okay, with an amazing pancake machine. The pool is tiny, but at least there is one. My pillows looked fluffy but flattened out quickly, so they weren’t comfortable. It seems like a lot of people stay here for meetings in Albany, the capital. The airport is only about ten minutes away, and it looked like they offered free pickup. I’d stay again.

The price was good, and the hotel did what I needed, but I wouldn’t return. It’s in a busy area, the rooms are a little cramped, and there wasn’t a full-length mirror. Traffic also made getting out of the hotel a slow process.
