It was quiet, and we got some sleep, so it works if all you need is a cheap place for the night. The carpet was dirty, the room smelled musty, and the mattresses were worn. I checked for bedbugs before we went in and didn’t see any. Checkout is at 11, but the cleaner started opening our door at 9 while we were getting ready to leave.

I was in town for two business days and wish I’d read more reviews before booking. The carpet and loveseat had heavy stains, and the furniture was old and grubby. I put up with it for the two nights, but on the second morning I woke early and found a bedbug in the bed. I left as fast as I could. When I told the motel, they didn’t seem very concerned and said they treat for bugs. Maybe they do, but it isn’t working. I hate leaving negative reviews, but people need to know about cleanliness and bugs. Nobody wants to bring them home.

The room was clean, the bed was really comfortable, and the place was quiet. It felt safe at the back of the building. The decor has a charming 1960s look, and though parts of the hotel seem renovated while other areas still need work, it was more than adequate for one night and priced well. It’s tucked among other hotels in a commercial area, but it stands out. We’ll definitely return.

We had to leave after less than five hours because room 207 had no working heat and it was too cold to stay, even for one night. We were there for two days with our family, including two children under four. The walls are glass, which felt extremely dangerous. The hotel wouldn’t move us or fix the heating, and refused to return anything, including our security deposit. This place is dangerous and should be arrested for scamming people!

I woke in the middle of the night to multiple bedbugs during my Sept 3 stay at Howard Johnson on central Ave in albany ny. I took pictures and showed them to the front desk manager, who immediately got defensive and blamed the bugs on me. I reminded the manager that I’m a platinum rewards member and have stayed at several wyndam hotels without any bedbug problems or complaints until this stay. I also found multiple reviews from past guests reporting bedbugs at Howard Johnson on central Ave in albany. I checked in at night and hadn’t seen how bad the outside looked, with peeling paint and dirty windows. It was a horrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend Howard Johnson. There are plenty of nicer wyndam hotels in the Albany or Latham area that offer much better value for the money. -gl
