Super 8 by Wyndham Colorado City

For the price, I thought this was a pretty good motel. The rooms were nice and everything was clean. The location was the problem: those little prickly things were everywhere, with nowhere at all to walk dogs. There also seemed to be lots of stray cats around. The one we saw was really sweet and cute, though.

Everything was clean, washed, and folded, and the carpet was okay. If you need a quick stop or you’re working on the road, this is the spot.

All I got was a bed for the night. Maybe that works for a working man out in the field who needs somewhere to crash, but not for a family. I took my service dog out and couldn’t find anywhere for her to go. The places that looked grassy were full of cockleburrs, and I spent half an hour picking them from her paws and my shoes. We eventually went to eat, and I found a place at the DQ where she could relieve herself. The door in our room looked like someone may have tried to break it down. The bar that folds over the ball to keep the door shut looked ripped off the frame during some kind of altercation. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

We missed breakfast, but there were several options, including eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy on other days, plus assorted breads, cereal, and yogurt. The room was one of the cleanest we’ve stayed in this year, even compared with the bigger brands we usually choose. Plenty of towels, spotless bathroom, clean bedding, and comfy beds. The lobby was clean, the attendant friendly, and check-in went smoothly. I was pleasantly surprised from check-in through checkout, and we’ll stay here again.
