Wyndham Garden at Niagara Falls

We were allowed to check in early, the lobby felt modern and welcoming, and the cleaning ladies in the hall were friendly. The heater worked well, and Niagara Falls is within walking distance. The room itself was stuffy, small, dated, and had unpleasant odors. Beds were VERY uncomfortable, flat and hard. The bath faucet made a loud screaming noise whenever we showered, no matter what we tried, and the shower head was tiny and janky. There was no bathroom fan for steam or smells. The toilet base was really dirty, almost pee stained, and the windows were so dirty they were hard to see through. On the bathroom ceiling there were unsealed holes and a pipe. A sprinkler was right above the headboard, with chunks of dust hanging from it. The popcorn ceiling looked dated, with lines from people running their fingers through it and a word written in it. The lot was full when the hotel was packed with hockey families, so we had to park in a random unmarked lot across the street despite paying for hotel parking. The desk lady was rude when we tried to find out where to leave the car. She could have given clear directions without the attitude, or they could mark the overflow lot with a sign.

The river side view from our room was fantastic. The area felt very safe, and the hotel is an easy walk to Niagara Falls park and the bridge to the Canadian side. One front desk staff member was really friendly, while the other wasn’t so much. I wish I remembered their names so I could give the nice one credit. The rooms were clean, and they let us check in early. There’s no free breakfast, which feels unacceptable at this price, and parking costs $20. Although the beds and bathroom were clean and the room had been vacuumed, the carpet was really sticky for some reason. The walls are thin enough that we could clearly hear families and kids on both sides, even at midnight, and even the parents talking at a normal volume. We felt we had to keep quiet because they could hear us too. The hotel should do something to dampen sound. While I was writing this, a neighbor started showering and it sounded like drilling through the wall. It was loud enough to wake people up. I was debating between three and four stars, and would give 3.5 if I could, but all the issues brought it down to three. It’s fine if you need somewhere to sleep near the bridge and Falls, though bring earplugs in case of noisy neighbors. If you want complimentary breakfast, look elsewhere. Bring slippers too, unless you don’t mind sticky carpet.

We needed a room at the last minute and the hotel was able to accommodate us. The view was beautiful, the room was clean and a decent size, and the front desk, maintenance, and cleaning staff were all very friendly. The Falls are literally within walking distance. I’d have liked breakfast or a restaurant, but we were told it wouldn’t open until March.

The rates were very reasonable, and the pool and Jacuzzi were great. When the air conditioner stopped working, we called downstairs and a service man came up quickly to replace the unit. It then ran perfectly. He was courteous and friendly, and the service was very fast.
