Even in winter, the hostel felt welcoming, comfortable, and well cared for. The host was informative and took the initiative to help me get familiar with the Niagara Falls area. Communication was smooth during normal hours, and it was clear he cares about the guests, the hostel, and the surrounding community. I had a great stay and would gladly come back.

The location is great and the room was fine, but the service was awful. The owner, Jeff, can make your stay miserable. Even a simple question can turn your day bad. I asked for a soap that was missing, and his snarky, sarcastic reply spoiled my trip. Later, two girls arrived after hours after their train had been delayed for hours. They had been stranded without cell reception, but had somehow emailed about arriving late. Jeff didn’t accommodate them in any way, and wasn’t even kind when they called. They were panicking, cold, and in a new city with nowhere to stay. A taxi driver and I had to find them rooms. Jeff’s reaction left them crying, and they weren’t refunded. He could at least have spoken to them politely.

The view across the street toward Canada and the trail to the Falls made for a great setting, especially at night. The place was comfortable, and Jeff, the Manager, was cool and helpful. He let us check in early and gave us tips for seeing the falls and enjoying the views. He’s straightforward, not rude, and willing to help as much as he can. The rules are clearly laid out on the sites, so I don’t think there should be any confusion about what to expect. I’d recommend staying here.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. When I called to ask about my stay and early check-in, the receptionist was extremely rude and yelled at me, using abusive language. A very disappointing experience.
