Niagara Falls Motel

I practically live at this motel. It’s just a great place to stay, hands down one of the best in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

You’ll need to be prepared as if you’re camping, because this place provides almost nothing. There wasn’t toilet paper or a holder, soap, towels, washcloths, a bath mat, trash cans, shampoo, a room phone, a clock or alarm clock, pen or paper, or a microwave. Not even a Bible. The bed was a mattress on a bare metal frame with one pillow, one sheet, and a thin bedspread, no blanket or top sheet. The floor was amazingly uneven, and the door was hard to open. It had to be jimmied and pushed. Staff leave at night, so if you need anything or lock yourself out, you’re out of luck. They suggest leaving the window unlocked so you can climb back in. You have to use the dumpster in the parking lot for trash. There is a mini fridge, but hot plates and other ways of heating food aren’t allowed. The TV gets antenna channels, with no cable or added services.

The host at reception was very kind when we arrived and during our stay. At checkout, though, he asked me to write a review right then and requested a good one. I wasn’t comfortable with that because I want to be free to review in my own time. We also lost about 30 minutes checking out because he made us sit in his office.

Room 9 was cozy, clean, and a good price, and the man at the front desk was pleasant and respectful. I got my deposit back in the morning. I did lose my owl necklace somewhere, but that was my only complaint. I’d recommend it.
