I like finding hostels when I travel, and this was an excellent choice in Niagara Falls. It’s handy for both Amtrak and the tourist area, with a nearby market, and there’s a full kitchen. The rooms are shared, though private rooms are available. One staff member I met was kind and made me coffee. There are some rough parts of town, as in any city, so just stay aware of what’s around you. Great place.

The owners and worker were friendly and gave us superb information. It’s a clean, homey hostel in an old house, with a well equipped kitchen and a lovely sunny backyard. It felt a bit like staying with grandparents. It isn’t especially close to the Falls, but we liked the quiet and being away from the chaos. The free shuttle stops nearby, so getting around wasn’t a big problem. There are two bathrooms, though one is downstairs in the basement, and mornings can mean a wait. All the rooms are upstairs, so it’s not a good fit for someone with knee problems.

The shared bathrooms were a little challenging with family and a child, but for a couple of days it wasn’t a big deal. One thing to watch: the no children under 5 policy isn’t listed on most booking sites, so check on that. I’d suggest booking directly with the host instead of using a third party app. This was my first visit to the USA, and I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt so welcome here that I wanted to share. It’s an old house with lots of instructions, all very clear. The host was professional and personal at the same time. I loved the shared kitchen and common spaces, and the stay gave me a wonderful introduction to a new experience and culture. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a local feel. For me, it beats the big, expensive, fancy hotels.

The people were very friendly and the street was quiet. The house was clean, though fairly old, and there were a few run-down homes in the neighborhood. It didn’t seem as bad as some other parts of Niagara. The location works if you’re okay with a short walk. I’d never booked a hostel before and still don’t know why I did 😁. But if you’re trying to save a buck, this could be your place.

I met some amazing people from all over the world here. I’m already planning to come back just to relax and work in the quiet when school gets too tough. The Falls state park, including the aquarium and the view, is literally within a five minute walk, and the hosts explain the shortest routes at check-in. The electronic keypad means no worries about a key. Bedroom lockers have plenty of space, just bring a lock. Wanderfalls is a really pretty vintage house, and the hosts are friendly and accommodating. It was extremely clean, with comfortable beds and clean sheets, pillows and blankets provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there’s a Tops market nearby for groceries. Tea is free all day, and they have coffee and pancakes in the morning. There are only two bathrooms, but sharing worked fine for me since everyone had different schedules. Hot water was always available. I’d highly recommend staying at Wanderfalls if you’re visiting Niagara.
