La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Colorado Springs South AP

We drove from California to Colorado to visit family and had reserved two rooms, both extremely dirty. The bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned, with hair and dirt everywhere, and the carpet in my room looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks. The walls are so thin you can hear everything. People ran up and down the hallway banging on doors and walls our first night, and we couldn’t sleep until after 3am. Although the property was supposed to be smoke free, one of our rooms reeked of cigarettes. They charged a $150 security deposit for each room, $300 total, to my debit card, and said it would be refunded at checkout. Three days later, I still haven’t received anything back. Lesson learned: pay more and stay somewhere nicer. Don’t be fooled by the cheap price.

The whole floor smelled of Marijuana before I even reached my room. I’ve never smoked, but they still accused me of smoking in my room and kept my $150.00 deposit without giving any evidence. This hotel isn’t clean, and that excuse to take the deposit sounds like a scam. Beware.

It’s a good location, with restaurants all around, and the walk to the World Arena was handy for our event. The staff were courteous, though busy and often unavailable. We also saw some homeless people staying by the side entrances and hanging around the parking lot. Our King deluxe suite was okay for the price. The microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge, and air conditioner/heater all worked, though the unit made a terrible squealing noise. They put a $150.00 hold on our card, which hasn’t happened at any other hotel we’ve stayed at, but it was refunded immediately at checkout. We’d stay again if nothing else nearby was available.

The internet was down about 75% of the time, and there were only a few TV channels. The mattresses were worn out, though the towels were nice and fluffy. Breakfast had sausage patties and eggs this morning. Staff say you’re only supposed to use the front door, which seems hard to square with fire code. There was no hot tub here to begin with. This started as an LQ and still has the green color scheme. The nicer furniture seems to have been sold or otherwise removed, and what’s left leaves a lot to be desired. Housekeeping is by request only, and the place needs a deep clean. The courtyard is a mess, with trash cans on the grass, broken lights, and a barbecue grill in the middle of the sidewalk. It’s a shame. Before Wyndham, when LQ was LQ, this was a cute little place. Make reservations on the website. The front desk charged about $30 more per night when they helped with a booking. The photos show this place needs refreshing pretty much everywhere.
