We ended up paying $350 for less than six hours in a freezing room with no hot water, after being treated rudely at the desk. We arrived at 4:40 a.m. after a 14-hour drive from Colorado to Georgia and had booked one night in a pet-friendly room. The desk clerk said our reservation was too late and demanded payment for another night, claiming check-in cut off at 4 a.m. That cutoff had never been mentioned on the phone, in the emails, or in the reservation. I pointed out that checkout was at 11 and that we had already paid, but he refused. Exhausted, we paid and planned to speak with a manager in the morning. The room took more than an hour to warm up, and the shower had absolutely no hot water. When we checked out a few hours later, the person on duty, apparently the manager, was on a personal phone call. She said she had to deal with a customer, then was curt and kept interrupting as we tried to explain both the reservation issue and the room. She said it wasn't her problem and that we should have called to say we'd be late, even though nobody had told us about the cutoff. I've stayed in hotels, motels, and hostels across the US and around the world, and this was the worst experience I've had. I've had better stays in third world countries. The staff were smug and rude, and you'd get a better room and better service at a Super 8 or Motel 6. You're better off sleeping in your car.
