Cambria Hotel Columbus - Polaris

We’ve stayed here a few times and expect to come back. The rooms are a little dated, but ours was clean and comfortable, with a clean bathroom and good water pressure. The soap smells nice too, if that matters to you. The location works well, and when a small reservation issue came up, the front desk went out of its way to help us.

The pool was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel, and finding it closed was a real letdown. The website hadn’t mentioned that when I booked. At checkout, I was told to email photos and that I’d get a refund, but I still haven’t heard back. We’d driven 10 hours, and the room was only 63 degrees when we arrived. It took hours to warm up. The furniture, including the lampshades, was stained, and the room didn’t seem properly dusted. Old tape and bits of balloons were stuck to the wood frame and ceiling. Wallpaper was peeling away around what looked like black mold. The lobby and outside looked impressive, so we felt good about booking, but the room was a different story. I’m very disappointed, especially after that drive. The property’s appearance and price had led me to expect better.

The sofa bed was stained, and there was a dead fly on the stand by the door. I took pictures of both. I also asked for extra towels, but was told there were laundry problems, so none were provided and I bought my own. The pool didn’t look clean, and there weren’t enough towels there either, so I didn’t use it. The hot tub wasn’t mentioned until after I had paid for two nights. There was only one working elevator, and it overheated and was out of service for a while. I had to climb to the fourth floor despite having knee replacements. This was an awful stay, especially for a place people had highly recommended. Given all of this, I think I should get a full refund. If needed, I’ll contact corporate. Please make this right. Thank you.

The pool and hot tub were closed by the health department, with a closure date nearly three months old. Seeing that made me worry about germs and bacteria, and even about the restaurant. The rooms also felt old, outdated, and dirty. I found dust or dirt around the windows, corners, and locks, and my keycard lock was broken. The front desk employee had no uniform or name tag and gave me no information about Wi-Fi, meals, or the bar. They just charged my card and handed over the room. I should have read the reviews before booking. I won’t return, and I’d tell others to avoid the place. Staff may respond with a generic message saying they hear concerns and will improve, but a copy-and-paste reply would make me think nothing is changing. It seems like management doesn’t care, and I think the hotel could soon be sold or closed. I plan to contact corporate. For the price, this service was unacceptable. I’m glad I stayed only one night. Spending $300 taught me not to come back.
