We really enjoyed the restaurant, where we had reservations and ate twice, and breakfast was served every day. The staff were very polite, with true southern hospitality. Our family of four stayed at City Mills for four nights, and the grounds were immaculate. There's also a yoga studio and massage therapist on site. The location is great for walking or jogging, and we especially liked sitting on the deck at sunset. We even saw an engagement, with a photo included. City mills is a wonderful place to visit.

The housekeeping really hurt the stay. I had to keep asking for clean towels, while overflowing trash sat there and basics like bath products and toilet tissue often weren't replaced, even after I asked more than once. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff were always pleasant and welcoming, but the service didn't live up to the property.

The riverwalk starts just behind the hotel and runs downtown, about a 10-minute walk to restaurants, shops, and zip lining. We walked in at dusk for dinner, but the path was a little dark after sunset because the timer lights hadn't come on yet. I'd use it in daylight only. Our room was a highlight: lots of space, clean, with exposed brick, large windows, crisp bedding, and a huge comfortable bed. From the left side of the hotel we could see the river. I liked the little mill references too, like the burlap pillows with the mill's name. The hotel's an upscale place in an old mill building just north of downtown Columbus, right on a beautiful stretch of the Chattahoochee River. My husband and I had a memorable, romantic weekend there. We booked a riverfront room through Expedia a few days ahead, but a wedding party that had booked earlier had taken all the Riverside rooms. Staff explained Expedia sometimes assigns a room that isn't actually available. It was disappointing, but they quickly found us another room with a river view, though it wasn't directly on the riverfront. If you book that way, this could happen to you too. The front desk showed real southern hospitality. There's a cute breakfast area included with the stay, though we never got up early enough to try it. Free bottled water is available downstairs any time. We also had drinks and appetizers at the restaurant and bar one evening. The food was delicious, elevated southern cooking, and the menu had creative cocktails. Our server was terrific. The outdoor spaces make it a lovely wedding venue: there's a patio between the two buildings lit with Edison bulbs at night, and a back deck overlooking the old mill ruins and the river at sunset. Grab a cocktail and explore. It's a different experience from staying at a chain hotel. This was just what we wanted for a romantic, comfortable, distinctive stay, with gracious, welcoming staff. We couldn't have asked for a better place in Columbus.

My husband, our adult son, his girlfriend, and I were all pleased with our stay. The room was clean, nicely furnished, and big enough for all four of us. The hotel is beautifully located along the riverwalk, and every employee we met was professional, friendly, and helpful. I'd stay here again if we return to Columbus.

The river-view room was lovely, and if you can get one, it's worth it. It was clean and spacious, decorated in a modern farmhouse style that fit the mill's history. The rooms were nicely done and kept that old-mill feeling. The employees were very helpful and kind, and downtown Columbus, with most of the food and entertainment, is walkable. I usually go for crisp, modern, luxurious hotels, so I wasn't sure about this quaint place. It won me over with its character, farmhouse look, and historic feel. The mill is about two hundred years old, which is amazing. There are lots of whitewashed brick walls. The small reception area surprised me at first, and my 13-year-old daughter, used to the kind of hotels I mentioned, said it wasn't a "Hyatt." She didn't mean that as an insult, just that it was different. There's no big lobby or real indoor place to unwind outside your room in the evening, unless you sit outside. The breakfast room is small and could feel cramped when busy, though there's ample outdoor seating. The spaces are nicely decorated and inviting. I'd add more breakfast choices, maybe pancakes or waffles, since my kids kept asking for them. There's no gym on site either. Still, it was a really good stay, and I'd absolutely return. It's a different style of hotel, but well done for what it is.
