Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus

We only stayed about five hours so I could get a little rest, and I seriously thought about sleeping in the car. Room 218 was gross and dirty. The mirror was broken, there was a terrible patch job on the bathroom door and a hole in the wall near the sink, and paint was peeling off the walls. The sheets were old and very thin. An old blood stain on the mattress was covered with an equally dirty mattress pad. There was half a used bar of soap in the tub, and water sprayed everywhere around the shower head. I don’t know how anyone could leave a good review and be serious. Best thing to do is keep driving.

We paid a nonrefundable rate, otherwise we would have gone somewhere else. The first night we were given a smoking room instead of the non smoking room we’d paid for, and it was filthy. Sticky rings from a drink marked the nightstands, and the carpet made our shoes stick as we walked in. They moved us to a non smoking room the second night, but we had to kill a roach and a spider in the bathroom, with mold all around the tub. The TV didn’t work in either room, and both doors were very hard to lock. We’re not even sure they locked properly. Worst hotel stay ever.

I was renewing my reservation at the front desk when, behind the counter, people started yelling violently and doors began slamming. It was the manager and his wife having a terrible fight. The staff member helping me was kind, but the situation was frightening and really unpleasant. As a single woman, I didn’t feel safe. I didn’t file a complaint because he was management, so I’m posting in the hope ownership sees it and does something to make sure it doesn’t keep happening. It was deeply unprofessional, and I can’t imagine having to work in that kind of environment. It seemed clear this wasn’t the first time, since they were so comfortable fighting like that. It’s unfortunate for everyone. I don’t think I’ll stay there again, and I hope nobody else has to experience it.

The place is gorgeous and the service was excellent. They said breakfast was free, but it was really just a snack to tide you over until you could get to a proper restaurant. I hate when a place calls it free breakfast but is too cheap to put out a real one.
