Holiday Inn Express Columbus-west Broad Street

The third floor smelled of cat urine, which triggers my migraines, so I had to move to another floor. That bathroom wasn’t in good shape either: there was hair in the tub, the floor looked poorly swept and mopped, and I killed a cockroach that ran across it. I needed to iron clothes for work the next day, but the ironing board wouldn’t stay up. I brought it to the front desk, and another guest in line pointed out that one leg was broken. The employee suggested I iron on the bed. Also be careful if you can’t pay for your stay up front, since rates go up depending on availability. I was offered the same rate I’d paid on my first day, at least.

For $225, I was shocked by the condition of this old hotel in an old part of town. The room was adequate, but breakfast was just Folgers coffee and a choice of Frosted Flakes or Cinnamon Crunch.

I was here for work and stayed three nights. It’s quiet, with modern rooms, big TVs, and comfortable beds. Breakfast was okay, and there’s plenty of food nearby. I’d recommend this location to anyone needing a place to stay.

The rooms are nasty, with stained floors, and the bathtub wouldn’t drain while I showered. I wonder whether any of the money they make has ever gone back into the hotel. Apparently not. Even after paying online, check-in always takes a long time, and they make you leave a $100.00 room deposit. In my opinion, places that ask for deposits are usually one-star hotels, the sort you might rent by the hour. This is my last stay here.
