Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbus

The team at the Columbus, GA Homewood Suites made us feel at home from the welcome at Wednesday’s manager reception to a cleaning staff member coming out to wish us safe travels as we drove away. The manager and staff were kind, warm, and professional, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. There’s renovation happening from the ground floor up. The lobby looks beautiful, and the pool and fire pit area were cozy, clean, and well cared for, though the guest rooms feel a little dated. Breakfast was sparse because of an unexpected delivery problem, but the service more than made up for that small inconvenience. A truly memorable stay.

The housekeepers deserve a big thank you, as does everyone who helped make my stay enjoyable, even with the renovation going on. Breakfast improved a lot: the hot options weren’t great on the first day, though there was plenty to choose from, and the next day it was amazing. One breakfast server was painfully loud. She smiled often, but I saw her roll her eyes several times, and she seemed to be having a couple of loud, possibly inappropriate conversations on an earpiece. I still enjoyed my stay very much.

Justin welcomed us in the lobby and was attentive, including to us as diamond members. Our king studio had plenty of room for the weekend, and breakfast offered breads, meat, coffee, juice, cereal, and more. I still wish there had been real scrambled eggs, but I made do. The hotel needs an upgrade. We noticed carpet stains and cracked shower tiles. It was a really nice place to stay, and the updates are the only thing keeping this from being a five-star visit.

The shower pressure was the one good thing. The hotel felt rundown and dirty, with mold in the shower, peeling wallpaper, and stained sheets. Most staff were incredibly rude, and our room was never cleaned during the three days we were there, despite asking repeatedly. I also saw a cockroach. A thoroughly unpleasant stay and a waste of money.
