Quality Inn Columbus East

I’ve stayed in weeklies in Oakland, and this was still one of my worst hotel experiences. The room was so gross that I started searching for another place an hour after checking in, then asked for my money back two hours in. They offered another room. It was a little cleaner, but I still didn’t want to stay there. I just wanted out, so I asked if they could keep about $20 to turn over and clean the room and refund the rest. They charged me $35, half the nightly rate. I wasn’t happy about that, but I wanted to leave badly enough that I accepted and went. The clerk was nice enough, but dismissed my complaints on the way out and said he didn’t see anything wrong. He asked what I expected from a smoking room. I expected it to be clean, with a sink that drained. The carpet was torn, fraying, and peeled back at the strip between the bathroom and the rest of the room. There was what looked like blood splatter on the bathroom wall and diarrhea sprayed in the bathtub. A used towel was still hanging on the bathroom hook. He said it wasn’t there, but I have pictures. The carpet alone wasn’t the main issue, but it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in 10 years. I didn’t want to take off my shoes. I’m not especially clean myself, and the room still disgusted me. I’d never stay there again and strongly recommend another hotel in the area. I found one across the street for about the same price that was way better.

The location was perfect, right by the highway, and the price was good with breakfast included. Just be aware it’s served only from 7 to 9 am, so you need to get up early. The staff were amazing, especially Tracie, who was a wonderful woman. My main issue was the hotel needs an update. My bed linen had burn marks all over, and there was an iron burn in the carpet. The owner should look into refreshing the place.

We were just passing through for one night. The location didn’t feel very good to me, but check-in and checkout service were awesome. Our room was tidy and clean, the bed was comfortable, and there wasn’t much noise outside. All in all, not a bad stay.

I came in looking for a better hotel than the one I’d been staying at before. Tracy, the manager, jumped right in and found me a great room at a great rate. The advertised amenities were there, and the property felt spacious and safe. There’s also a great nightclub in between. Thanks so much, Tracy, for making my stay at the Quality Inn really enjoyable.
