MainStay Suites Columbus near Fort Benning

I stayed five nights in October 2025 for my husband's basic graduation. It was a comfortable, very nice hotel. The staff were kind, and the room was great. I'd definitely come back!

Hotels.com confirmed my reservation was valid, and they’ve tried contacting the hotel several times without getting a response. At the desk, though, the young woman said it wasn’t in their system and they were fully booked. She called someone else, presumably a manager or supervisor, who supposedly couldn’t find it either. Then she suggested I must have booked through a fraudulent site, which is ridiculous. Mainstay sites use Hotels.com all the time. I was turned away late at night and had to find somewhere else. The place she referred me to wanted twice what I’d originally paid and felt like a scam. I’ll be contacting corporate. Having an unprofessional person who couldn’t handle the front desk on late night duty was totally unacceptable.

The breakfast was so poor that we went to McDonald’s instead. There were no bagels, just white bread, hardly any choices, and some bananas that looked past their best. The toaster didn’t work even when I held the lever down as instructed, the tea water was cold, and my wife said the coffee was the worst she’d ever had. We stayed over Thanksgiving, and the hotel itself looked ready for renovation, with damaged and missing paint in the room. Take caution if you stay here.

At checkout I reported what had gone wrong, and the front desk apologized and promised both a refund and a follow-up call. Neither ever came. That lack of responsibility says a lot about management. The room had problems from the start: the door was jammed so we couldn’t use the coat hanger area, the tub wouldn’t stop running properly, and the electric stove was broken. It ruined our food and sent us rushing out to find dinner at the last minute. Breakfast was frustrating too. The morning staff member was rude and carelessly mixed eggs with beef patties, which was unpleasant and unacceptable for non-meat eaters like us. Our whole family was disappointed. We regret picking this hotel, zero stars if I could.
