The Inn at Irwin Gardens

A kind young woman welcomed me in even though I wasn’t staying there, and let me look around the building and gardens and take photos. The garden wasn’t in season, but it still looked bold and beautiful. When the weather improves, they open it to the public for a set period, and I can only imagine the Italian-style gardens with fountains, statues, and greenery in full bloom. The hospitality made the visit special, and I’m grateful for that. The mansion has elegant decor, detailed woodwork, antique furnishings, stained glass windows, and ornate fireplaces. It really felt like stepping back in time. Outside, the peaceful, carefully kept grounds and striking architecture give the place the feel of a European garden retreat. It’s one of the most breathtaking spots in Columbus, Indiana. If you like architecture, photography, or historic homes, it’s worth a visit even without staying overnight. The building and seasonal gardens made the experience unforgettable.

The breakfast plate was tasty and just the right amount. The innkeeper also knew a lot about the property and was a fantastic source of information. The house is kept up meticulously. This place is an absolute treasure.

The innkeeper was welcoming and polite, and served a great breakfast. Guests can use the sitting rooms downstairs and wander through or relax in the gardens, which is a lovely touch. The inn itself is beautiful, with period decor and historic details, and it was clean and comfortable. There were thoughtful extras like water in the room, chocolates on the bed, nice glasses, and a coffee station. The location is especially convenient, just steps from the Columbus Visitors Center and within walking distance of downtown restaurants and attractions. I had a wonderful stay at the Inn at Irwin Gardens and highly recommend it.

We sat in the garden out back for hours. The building is beautiful, the location is great, and the staff were helpful and accommodating. If you want the full Columbus experience, this is an ideal place to stay.
