This older motel is affordable, and the rooms are clean, quiet, and have a home-like feel. We stay at the Selkirk about one weekend a month, and it keeps getting better under the new owners. It’s a small place within walking distance of main street shops and restaurants, and they’ve been adding lovely touches to the rooms and property. They now serve a lovely fresh homemade breakfast with high-quality bakery treats. We’ve stayed at the other two hotels in Colville too. One is a chain motel without the personal touches the Selkirk is starting to offer, and we used to reserve and stay at the other, but we prefer the Selkirk, especially with the new owners. It’s been fun watching the changes, and we plan to keep coming back. The improvement over the previous ownership is huge. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

The husband and wife who run this place went out of their way to make me comfortable, and they’re incredibly nice. They serve a home-cooked breakfast, and from the moment I opened the door, my room felt like a little cottage. It was extremely clean and well sanitized, with thoughtful touches that made it feel almost like home: a kitchenette, bowls and plates, shampoo and moisturizer in the shower, a wonderful bed, an extra-soft chair, and extra pillows. The lamps were all touch-type, so no fumbling around for switches or knobs, and it was very quiet. I travel a lot, and this little place is a hidden gem. It was so much better than any corporate motel. I’ll 100% be back. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

We only stayed one night while passing through, but I honestly didn’t expect the place to be this nice. The rooms had memory foam beds, lovely decor, an awesome shower head, and a full hotel mini kitchen with a sink. The owner was really nice, and my partner and I enjoyed chatting with her. She had delicious homemade pastries and sandwiches for breakfast too. A really lovely spot and, for sure, the best value in town.

The owners seem to listen to and respect their customers, and I hope guests treat the place with the same respect. The room felt secure, was clean, and had been well maintained. There’s a big shower and a nice soap dispenser. That might sound like a small thing, but it makes a real difference. The kitchenette was nice, though it could use better lighting. For an inn rather than a motel, this is what an inn should be. I felt welcome right away.

Really happy with this place! The owner is so kind, thoughtful, and accommodating, and the hospitality is unbeatable. Breakfast is home-cooked, with desserts too. The room was updated and very clean, and the price was incredible. I’ll never choose another place in the future.
