Magnuson Hotel Commerce

I've had two heart attacks and a stroke, and was on life support for over a month. I survived, and I've come a long way. I'm also newly approved for disability and still grieving my dad and now my sister. So this situation really gets to me. My dad died Jan 21, 2026, and my sister died apr 30, 2026. I booked and paid for two nights, but the memorial service won't be held in commerce tx, so I called to cancel. They directed me to the number in my email. That number said they couldn't cancel both nights without charging me for one. I said I'd use the night if I had to pay for it, but they still wouldn't let me stay. If I cancel, I get charged for one night either way. The place smells throughout. Last time I stayed, the sheets had a yellow stain, and I didn't complain then. My 83-year-old friend said the room and bathroom smelled, and the bathroom cracks had nasty stuff caked in them. The food was overcooked even though it had just come out. The sausage and biscuits were hard as rocks, and there was something black in the waffle mix. I hadn't complained before, but I'm so upset now. Don't stay here. They have absolutely no sympathy or empathy.

The staff were fairly friendly and breakfast was average, but I wouldn't book here again. The room felt damp and the air conditioning didn't help. The mini fridge wasn't cold, and the furniture had a strange musty smell.

We only stayed one night, but would come back on our next trip. The room was spacious enough and had a microwave and small fridge. The bathroom was roomy too, with a walk-in shower. The bed was clean and really comfortable, and it was quiet despite the Walmart next door.

Breakfast was okay, and the woman at the desk was very nice, but the rest of the stay was terrible. We had to switch rooms three times. The first smelled strongly of weed, the second had a musty, smoky odor, and after settling into the third we found that the TV didn't work and the A/C and heater kept shutting off. We couldn't call the front desk because the phone had been transferred to an answering machine. The place looks like it was once beautiful, but it's fallen into disrepair. The elevator carpet was disgusting, and the furniture in every room was scratched, stained, or full of holes. We only got two bath towels in a double room, which is ridiculous. It looks like they're spending the bare minimum. Maybe a bigger chain could get it back in shape. There are much better choices in Greenville, only 18 min down the road, so we went there the next morning.
