Clarion Hotel Concord/Walnut Creek

Veronica at the front desk was so joyful and nice during our first interaction, she totally lifted my spirits. The hotel was clean, and the bed and pillows were incredibly soft. I fell asleep in under five minutes and woke up well rested. Breakfast was basic but filling. This was one of my nicest hotel stays, and I’d definitely come back.

We needed somewhere to stay in town at the last minute because of unfortunate circumstances, and we weren’t on vacation. There’s a pool, but we didn’t have time to use it. The workout room has no free weights, just one resistance cable machine with pull-up bars, two ellipticals, and two treadmills. The lobby is nice, with plenty of places to sit and talk if you don’t want people in your room. The room was decent enough to sleep in, though the side we stayed on could be better maintained. Breakfast was simple, which I liked. We saw people waiting by the elevators without room keys, so we walked away and told the front desk. Safety first, for us and the other guests. Next time we’re in town, we’ll ask for a room on the Tower side. Otherwise, give this hotel a try.

The rooms are good and economical, but we were scared when someone from another room opened ours with his key. The front desk couldn’t explain how or why it happened, though they did make us new keys. A few people smoke in the corridors, which is nauseating for little children.

Once we got into the room we’d actually booked, it was cool and very, very clean, with more space and some small amenities. Ruby moved us to the Tower right away, where the room overlooked the pool. Shout out to her for making our stay comfortable. I definitely suggest booking in the tower. The first room was over 90°, and both the AC and fridge were broken. Breakfast was the same each day: scrambled eggs, lukewarm sausage links, and rock-hard potatoes, plus coffee, juice, fruit, and pastries. It wasn’t glamorous, but I ate there every morning. The pool was wonderful, with its own towels, shade from the buildings, and just the right temperature. We couldn’t hear the airport at all from our room. The hotel is right off the freeway, close to three different malls and lots of food options. I spent days researching hotels and had trouble finding a good spot, but the reviews here looked pretty good, and I’m glad I chose it. Parking was free, the price matched the quote, and we got the summer special. Our deposit was refunded in full within two days. I’d recommend it 10/10 and book again.
