Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Conover (Hickory Area) by IHG

The customer service was terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. At check-in, no one told me my room had been changed. I got a key, then found I’d been given a dirty king suite with what looked like water damage instead of the double queen suite I’d booked months earlier. The front desk said they were double-booked and someone had switched my room. I should have been called ahead of time. They then offered a regular double queen room, but it was nasty too. Both rooms smelled bad and had spiders, centipedes, and dust. It was a very bad experience.

We had to take shelter during the recent heavy snowstorm while driving from Nj to Georgia. Snow-covered roads were hitting our car hard, and North Carolina doesn’t seem to have a proper snow-clearing process. We checked in quickly, trusting the brand name, and got complimentary breakfast the next morning. The location was convenient, with a Mexican restaurant right next door, which saved us by letting us get lunch and dinner packed right away.

On a recent business trip, something about my room made me uneasy. I brought it up at the front desk, and Coleman took my concern seriously right away and did more than expected to help me feel safe and comfortable. He was calm, respectful, and proactive. It’s rare to feel so listened to and see someone act with such care and integrity. I’m grateful for how he handled it. Coleman is a great example of hospitality.

Really nice hotel, with great people working there. It was clean, the water pressure was good, and the TVs had lots of channels and good picture quality.
