Wingate by Wyndham Conway AR

We booked through Expedia, but decided to stay elsewhere once we saw the room. There was water damage, peeling paint and mold around the window, and the refrigerator didn't work. We had health concerns, so we left. The desk clerk had been polite and professional when we arrived, and was just as courteous when we raised the problems. Everyone we spoke to was helpful with canceling the reservation and returning our fees. Hopefully they fix the issues so we can try staying here again.

I appreciated the breakfast, especially the cheesy premade egg omelets, and the milk was whole instead of 2%. The coffee actually tasted like coffee, and they left it in the lobby for people to drink after breakfast rather than putting it away. Over two weeks of traveling, it was the best motel or hotel coffee I'd had. I was here for one night. My room was nice and clean, and it was quiet. The lobby is stylish, with space to sit, use a laptop, sip coffee, or take a break. I'm not sure why this hotel gets so many bad reviews. Maybe those were from when it was a Motel 6, before it became a Wingate. I'd stay again if I'm back in Conway.

The room itself was great, with a soft bed, comfortable pillows, and a quiet atmosphere. Dylan was super helpful yesterday. My issue is the extra charge for supposedly damaging the sheets. The receptionist said she didn't know what happened, only that there was damage. I explained the blood was from my period starting while I was asleep. I had no idea it was about to start. After years on birth control, my body is getting used to cycles again, and they've been irregular. They come at random, without signs like PMS or pain, and I sometimes have accidents even at work. I asked if she was serious about charging an extra fee for a normal thing that happens to women. It was upsetting that I was charged without anyone trying to understand or work out an outcome with me. The room wasn't damaged or destroyed, and the sheets weren't intentionally stained. I asked for the general manager's name and number so I could dispute the fee, since this was out of my control. The receptionist kept saying she could give me the GM's card, couldn't give me the information herself, and that I could call him Monday 03.23.26 from 930a-330p. She said there was nothing she could do. It felt disturbing and dismissive not to be heard or offered a compromise or another possible outcome. It's embarrassing to write something this personal. My body is readjusting to having periods after almost five years, while I'm newly engaged, trying to conceive, and in nursing school. I don't damage or destroy hotel rooms, especially knowing I'd have to look at the mess and make the hospitality staff's job harder. I wasn't denying the blood was there or pretending I didn't know what had happened. The Wingate on Oak Street and Museum Rd hotel should recognize that this is a natural bodily function. I'll contact the GM and file a BBB complaint. Charging me for a menstrual cycle is ridiculous.
