Baymont by Wyndham Coon Rapids

We were in town for USA Cup at the national sports center in Blaine, and the location worked well, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Staff were welcoming and nice; they brought fresh coffee when it ran out and offered us cookies. Our first room had wet carpet and a very humid smell, but they quickly moved us to another with nice tile, a fresh smell, comfortable beds, and an acceptable room. The bathroom and shower needed repairs, though the shower had good temperature and pressure. Towels were old but clean. A few customers were noisy. The TV didn't work, our rooms weren't cleaned during the three nights, and the pool was out of service. Breakfast was minimal.

I've been here a little over a week after coming in homeless, scared, and worried. I feel safe, and things are going better now. The employees are great, understanding people, and their willingness to work with me through a hard time has meant a lot. They mind their own business, and I have no complaints. The owner is a great man too.

The lobby was nice and the staff were incredibly friendly, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. At first glance the room looked and smelled clean. Then I noticed the broken lampshade and the phone, which was missing most of its buttons and didn't work. The TV was also out, even after the front desk tried to help.

The location was convenient, but the service and rooms were horrible. The lobby and dining area were dirty, and there were food crumbs and empty cups in the elevator and hallways. Our room looked like it hadn't been vacuumed or cleaned, with broken bathroom floor tiles and dirty sinks. Guests played loud music in the lobby, while kids and other guests ran around in the middle of the night. I rang the service desk bells for 10 minutes and nobody came, so I ended up calling Wyndham customer service to file a complaint against the hotel. I'd give this place half a star if I could.
