Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham Akron/ Fairlawn

The suite was simple and some of the furnishings were older, but it was clean and everything worked. We liked having a sitting area and a full kitchen, and the bathroom and vanity were spacious. The beds were incredibly plush and comfortable. We checked in just minutes before 7pm, when the free manager's reception was meant to end. The staff kindly kept it open so we could get a bite. It was a modest hot meal that night, with hot dogs, chili, potato salad, green salad, and juices. Check-in went smoothly, we got a room close by, and the cheerful staff were helpful, which we appreciated in the single-digit weather. The included hot breakfast was standard, with scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, toast items, a waffle maker, and cold cereals. We were very pleased and would stay again.

For the money, this is hands down the best place to stay. The rooms are great and the staff are friendly. The kitchen already has dishes and utensils, and if you need something else, just ask at the desk, they probably have it. Owner Dave is super nice, and Grace at the desk is a very sweet young lady. They're willing to work with you on rates, and housekeeping is friendly too.

We had a wonderful stay, and our room was amazing for the reasonable price. It was clean, had a kitchenette and a little living room area, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were nice, too. Housekeeping left us a handwritten note welcoming us and wishing us a Happy Valentines Day. Such a nice touch. We'll definitely stay here again.

I got home and found an extra $75 charge on my account, so they'll be hearing from me. I had hoped to keep quiet about the problems, but I'm not staying there again. We were in Akron for one night with my son, and the pull-out couch seemed perfect. When we moved things to open it, it was covered in gross little pellets, so he had to sleep with us. The nightstand had dried candle wax on it, and the blanket and sheets were stained. The bathroom lights and vent were on motion sensors, so every time someone moved in bed, they switched on. I tried to make coffee, but there were no cups or filters, and the pot had something like sugar stuck to its sides.
